American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Founded in 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is the oldest animal protection organization in the United States. In recent year the ASPCA has made a decidedly animal rights turn, taking on meat eating, hunting, and other issues previously dominated by animal rights groups. It has a web site at ASPCA.org.
